POCKETS FULL OF STARS
Branko Potočan & Fourklor
The piece tells stories of little people with big hearts. Their hearts contain compressed essences of their lives. Many of them live a simple life. They seem happy but actually aren’t. Hence, theirs secrets start leaking out. The stories are short and put forth just like images from life. Rather than big conclusions they offer a simplicity of describing well-known things such as unfulfilled love, sadness and fear.
The rope is the recurrent theme of the piece. Its physical qualities allow it to protect, connect, interlace and untie. Just like a metaphor, an imagined reality.
Branko Potočan is a choreographer, a director, a dancer, an artistic leader and a pedagogue. Artistically, he has been active since 1986, when he was a member of an avant-garde dance group led by Ksenija Hribar in Dance Theatre Ljubljana. Between 1990 and 1993, he was a member of Ultima Vez, a troupe from Brussels led by a world-renowned choreographer Wim Vandekeybus. In 1994 founded a physical theatre group Fourklor under the frame of Zavod Vitkar. He has received many prizes and awards for his work. He is also the artistic director of the international performing arts festival Rdeči Revirji.
