JUMP CUT

Double Take - Cinematic Circus (BE)

"It's a funny thing coming home. Nothing changes. Everything looks the same, feels the same, even smells the same. You realize what's changed is you." - Eric Roth

In the comfort of their living room, a couple devoted to living their best, most unconventional lives are forced to face reality when confronted with life-altering news, challenging their idea of what it truly means to go through this life together.

Removing all walls of intimacy, Jump Cut invites you into the whimsical world of Summer and Raphael and provide you with a surrealistic and acrobatic perspective on how they go through, and get through this life together. Inspired by true events, Jump Cut is not only a circus show, it is a cinematic experience built entirely around their screenplay and innovative set design.  A sort of “acrobatic pas de deux”, the duo move fluidly from one circus technique to another telling a story that is full of unexpected twists and turns. Giving the sensation of dreaming while awake, Jump Cut is a show that travels through time and space where value is placed on life’s simpler moments and poetry in its most tragic ones.

A show and experience fit for all ages and imaginations!

Founded in 2016 by professional circus artists, Summer Hubbard and Raphaël Herault, Double Take - Cinematic Circus is a circus and filmmaking company where art is created and brought to life both on the stage and on the screen.  Based in Brussels, Belgium, the duo travel extensively throughout Europe collaborating with a broad spectrum of artists whose backgrounds vary from circus, dance, theatre, music, and more.

Summer is an American with an elite gymnastics background. She participated in the creation of Cirque du Soleil’s "Amaluna" and toured with the show until 2016. She loves to perform and to film and is simply captivated by how much these two worlds both collide and compliment one another. She believes that Double Take - Cinematic Circus is built on and around this beautiful mashup of art forms.

Raphaël is French with a circus background having first studied at Ecole Nationale de Cirque de Châtellerault, then at Ecole de Cirque Balthazar, and finally at Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque.

The focus of his studies fell mainly on Floor Acrobatics, Teeterboard, and Banquine.

Raphaël has performed on the streets, in the cabarets, all the way to the big stage of Cirque du Soleil. He is fascinated by circus and by cinema and he is on a quest to build bridges between these two beautiful art forms which was the original source for creating Double Take - Cinematic Circus and that still drives the company today.
