Contemporary circus and contemporary dance meet an unexpected element: water
The Submerged Voice is a multidisciplinary piece that engages circus and movement in dialogue with an unusual medium: water. A large aquarium filled with water serves as a context to explore themes of silence, barriers, and overcoming. It delves into the depths of the subconscious through the experience of apnoea, with sound and light taking centre stage. The performance investigates the relationship between body movement, breathing, weight, voice, and the elemental force of water.
The Submerged Voice revolves around breathing as the fundamental human experience. Our first and last breaths mark the beginning and end of life; between them unfolds everything else.
